Bowed Walls

This type of foundation problem can be very alarming when you first come across it. They are seen as leaning walls in the basement, and this problem is often caused from hydrostatic pressure in the soil surrounding your home. Whenever you have a home that is built in clay-rich dirt, it's going to be incredibly absorbent whenever it rains or there's melting snow on the lawn. This moisture causes the dirt to swell up and it puts a lot of pressure on your basement walls. This pressure is known as hydrostatic pressure. The longer you wait to get this problem taken care of, the more likely it becomes that the wall will actually collapse in on itself! Also, a bowed wall can contribute to the development of wall cracks over time. We see these type of issues all the time and they are one of the more common foundation repair solutions we implement.

SafeBase™ Wall Anchors

This wall anchor system comes with a lifetime transferable warranty. It makes use of proven engineering methods to stabilize and strengthen your failing basement wall(s). It doesn't matter what type of foundation you have - concrete, tile, or cinder block - this system will work with any material. The anchors can be installed quickly and they will be put deep in the earth in stable, load-bearing strata. After the anchor is in place, a plate will be attached inside of the basement on the damaged wall. Next, a metal rod will connect the plate to the anchor, and it can be tightened over time to provide the lateral pressure needed to push the tilting wall back up into an upright position. This is a far better alternative to wall replacement - which used to be the only solution to this common problem many years ago!

    SafeBasements™ Patented Basement Wall Anchors

    Comparing Wall Anhors
    • 10 to 20 minute installation time for each anchor
    • Not much labor is involved in the set up of each anchor
    • Anchor is installed into stable soil for the best holding power
    • No mess left on your lawn following installation
    • use of a larger anchor provides better holding capacity
    • Our "ball and socket" hardware on the wall plate can adapt to any angle for a true torque to the anchor in the earth
    • Our anchors have gone through rigorous engineering and testing, and have been proven to be the strongest and easiest to install

    Traditional Basement Wall Anchors

    • Require an excavated hole in the yard for every anchor
    • Hardware that is used is designed for a straight pull
    • Because the earth anchor is installed in soft soil, it has a soft or spongy reaction to the torque that is applied
    • 1 to 2 hour installation time, at least
    • Labor intensive to install
    • Clearly "old technologies" used in their design
    • The size of the excavated hole in the yard restricts the size of the anchor being used - less holding power per anchor

    SafeBasements™ Basement Wall Anchor Plates

    Comparing Wall Anchor Plate
    • Patented, rounded nut allows for proper torque readings
    • Can be set up, usually, in 1 day or less
    • Torque nut makes full contact with plate
    • Maximizes proper pull to the earth anchor

    Traditional Basement Wall Anchor Plates

    • Can easily be over-tightened, causing rod to bend
    • Square nut causes improper torque readings
    • Corner of nut makes contact first, causing the nut and threads to bind
    • Improper torque readings causes minimal pull to earth anchor
    • Excavated earth is soft, allowing the earth anchor to shift towards the wall plate

SafeBasements™ Waler Wall Support System

In connection to wall anchors, we also install a wall support system that works directly with the wall anchor system. The SafeBase Waler Wall Support System is engineered to add structural stability to a previously bowed wall.
