Crawl Spaces
Uncovered vented crawl spaces are a huge problem, especially in the northern states. Brining cold air into an unconditioned space in your home can cause condensation and dry rot in your lumber.
Uncovered soil is also a problem. It allows moisture to evaporate and create a very high humidity level around your foundation. It also can allow radon to have free passage into your home. Some other problems that can result are mold and the musty smells that linger throughout the entire house. If these conditions are left alone, your house will essentially rot from the inside out. Not to mention the potentially severe health issues that can arise from the mold and radon.
Steps that we take to resolve these issues include first blocking the vents. We then install a drain tile system which drains to a basket. Next we install a heavy liner that covers the dirt floors and walls. We can also install our air purifier and dehumidifier to clean the air and maintain a constant humidity level.
The finished product is a safe, dry and healthy space that could make for great additional storage!
